MANILA: Honda Cars Philippines (HCPI) has launched vehicle safety recall campaigns over two possible concerns: defective high-pressure fuel pumps and steering gearboxes.
In a statement, the company said that the recalls are in line with their goal of ensuring that “no Honda products running on the road could harm anyone” — highlighting its commitment over the safety of its customers.
According to HCPI, it is recalling 2023-2024 Honda CR-V RS e:HEV E-CVT to be inspected for probable cracks on the Core B, which may result to customers smelling gasoline fumes while idling or even driving.
The Japanese automaker’s arm in the country said that some 1,351 affected units in the country shall be inspected to be conducted for free.
To recall, the sixth-generation Honda CR-V was introduced to the Philippine market in September 2023.
Meanwhile, 5,505 units in the country shall also be checked over steering gearbox-related concerns.
Affected examples —HCPI noted — have snagging, unusual sound and vibration while turning due to the reduced amount of grease in the worm gear.
Following this, the sliding resistance in the meshing area of the electric power steering gearbox increases and the torque fluctuation becomes larger while turning the steering wheel — resulting in unusual sounds and unsmooth turns.
Replacement parts and labor under the voluntary recall shall also be free of charge.
To recall, HCPI also did a safety recall for the 2022 Honda Civic in March last year for a similar issue.
HCPI claimed that no accidents or any cases related to either of the recall have been reported in the country. HCPI also apologizes for any inconvenience that the recalls may cause.
All affected customers are asked to avail inspection/replacements for the affected parts at any of the 38 Honda Cars dealerships and three Service Centers nationwide.
Customers can verify if their vehicle is affected by encoding its 17-digit Chassis Number or Vehicle Identification Number in the Chassis/VIN search tool of the recall information webpage at www.hondaphil.com/recall. Customers can also contact Honda’s customer service hotline, 1-800-1000-HONDA (46632) or (02) 857-7240 between 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Mondays-Fridays, or email update@hondaphil.com for further assistance.
