KEY TAKEAWAYS
When did Honda Cars Philippines Inc. had the road safety and production knowledge seminar to AISEC members?
The latest seminar was held last March 11.How many students participated in the event?
24 students from eight member schools of international youth leader organization AIESEC joined the training program.Last March 11, 24 students from eight member schools of international youth leader organization AIESEC took part in the training program where classroom instruction on safe driving behavior was reinforced with a guided experiential drive of Honda Sensing–equipped models such as the all-new BR-V, Civic and HR-V.
Per HCPI, the aforementioned educational programs for various stakeholders like the youth — inspired by Honda's target of zero traffic collision fatalities by 2050 worldwide — is to strengthen the public's consciousness and appreciation for road safety.
The demonstration of Honda Sensing through an experiential drive, the company noted, proved effective in understanding how technology is applied in protecting the safety of everyone: driver, passengers, pedestrians, and even other road users.
The global automotive marque has been incorporating the host of safety technologies under Honda Sensing to realize the dream of “Safety for Everyone.”
Facilitated by professional instructors from the Honda Safety Driving Center (HSDC), students were taught about having the correct mindset towards driving during the learning sessions. Subjects like pre-drive inspection, traffic rules and regulations, and common misconceptions about driving were also discussed there.
Meanwhile, HCPI’s technical experts and certified driving instructors are guiding the students during the actual driving exercises. According to HCPI, participants get to know the brand’s advanced driver-assist system using vehicles equipped with Honda Sensing features.
“It is my pleasure to be with you who are very passionate about creating good change for society. This program is designed to strengthen our consciousness about how our own actions can help reduce road accidents, and how we can influence other road users to also improve their driving habits. When you apply what you learn, and share them in your schools, with your active support, we can create more meaningful change and impact more people,” HCPI President Masahiko Nakamura was quoted as saying.
For their part AISEC President Sajana Vithanawasam as well as the participants also expressed their gratitude to Honda, saying that they are sincerely honored to partner with the brand in the cause. “We appreciate Honda’s efforts on sustainability and this initiative to help us become better road users,” Vithanawasam said.
To note, HCPI has been conducting educational campaigns on road safety for the youth since 2004 through its “Teen Smart” program — the purpose of which is to develop the youth’s consciousness of road safety and strengthen the sense of responsibility in reducing road accidents as pedestrians and future drivers. Additionally, HCPI collaborated with different partners from the government and civil society to reach more youth, who are among the most vulnerable in road accidents. Even during the pandemic, HCPI has continued with this effort online.
