Honda Cars PH CSR programs lauded at 5th SPMJ ‘Driven to Serve’ Awards
Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) received recognitions over some of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs at the Society of Philippine Motoring Journalists' (SPMJ) 5th “Driven to Serve” Awards.

Implemented by HCPI suppliers and dealers, the Bantay Baterya and Bantay Langis recycling project is targeted to reduce land and water pollution through proper disposal of hazardous lead-acid batteries and used oils. The company’s program partners on the aforementioned endeavor are ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation, Oriental-Motolite Marketing Corporation, and Genetron International Marketing.
HCPI and its partners recycled 7,028 pieces of used lead acid batteries worth P1,820,453 and 16,104 liters of used oil were collected since the Bantay Baterya and Bantay Langis started in 2006 and 2017, respectively.
Further, the funds generated from the two programs were used in supporting various environmental projects of Bantay Kalikasan such as the protection and preservation of the La Mesa Watershed as well as maintenance of La Mesa Eco Park.
Meanwhile, the assistance program to medical frontliners during the pandemic led to the lending of Honda vehicles to various hospitals and other facilities in Laguna and Cavite and the donation of personal protective equipment and food packs.
Likewise, HCPI’s Modern-Day Heroes program offered exclusive service deals for frontliners to honor and appreciate them.
Lastly, the Teen Smart project is eyed to develop consciousness on road safety and strengthen their sense of responsibility in reducing road accidents as pedestrians and future drivers. The program started in 2004 and has engaged with various partners to tap more youth, who are considered as among the most vulnerable in road accidents.

We are able to reach more and create meaningful impact through our collective effort,” HCPI President Masahiko Nakamura was quoted as saying.
“We share these recognitions with them, to the program participants, to our customers, and to the Honda Associates who have dedicated their efforts in carrying out the programs even when we were in the midst of the pandemic. We are truly grateful,” he added.
