The new Honda Brio is offered in four options. Both the new Honda City and Brio sport an updated look, making the vehicles sleeker and more elegant looking. Aside from that, the subcompact sedan gets additional color options and a new variant, while hatchback now comes with updated aesthetics.
The refreshed versions of Honda’s two of the best-selling nameplates locally were officially revealed today at the Mega Fashion Hall, SM Megamall. The same event also paved the way for the opening of the company’s four-day display in the area from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. where exciting activities await event visitors.
New City
On the outside, the new Honda City was made to be sportier and more stylish with its newly crafted RS design front grille with RS Emblem and new front and rear bumper with carbon-wrapped lower molding.
At the fore are LED daytime running lights with fog lamps (either on LED or Halogen — depending on the trim) across all variants. Headlights can also be on LED or halogen projector type. The aforementioned illumination systems are supported by headlight auto on/off function with auto off timer (15 seconds after engine turns off) — as standard.
The side profile of the new Honda City’s top-of-the-line variant comes with a new sill garnish and newly-designed 15- to 16-inch alloy wheels.
Further, the rear of the refreshed Honda City features a newly designed rear bumper with carbon-wrapped diffuser.
In addition, the new Honda City which is based on the model’s fifth-generation layout, now has an enhanced windshield shape that minimizes blind spots.
To further the new Honda City’s appearance, the top-tier trim is now tailored with new leather seat design and sport pedals that complement the revised front panel garnish and interior trimmings.
Moreover, the new Honda City is equipped with new 4.2-inch full-color thin film transistor meter (either on red or white and green ambient light) as well as an eight-inch advanced touchscreen display audio with improved LCD display that has wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and better reverse camera resolution.
Powering the new City is still the 1.5-liter double overhead cam i-VTEC engine mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT) that can dish out 199 horses and 145 Newton-meters of pulling power. The same powertrain also allows the new Honda City to achieve fuel economy ratings of 22.2 kilometers per liter for all variants based on the latest UN-R101 Fuel Economy Testing for highway driving conditions.
Notably, the new City features the Honda Sensing suite of technologies across all options that include lead car departure notification system, collision mitigation braking system, lane keeping assist system, road departure mitigation system with lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and auto-high beam.
Additionally, the new City has four standard airbags for all grades (additional side curtain airbags for the crème-dela-crème variation), new rear seat reminder and new walk away auto door lock (top two variants).
