As good as the current Honda Civic is, especially the 1.5-liter Honda Civic RS Turbo, it lacks a couple of things that most of its competitors have. Thankfully, that has now been remedied as
Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HPCI), Honda's automobile business unit in the country, has upgraded the top-spec variant with features "that provide utmost convenience for Honda's highly praised compact sedan."
What features come with the latest upgrade?
Nearly a year after its local launch, the updated Civic RS Turbo now has
Power Folding Side Mirrors that lets the driver control and fold the side mirrors depending on the driving situations and road conditions, and
Speed-Sensing Auto Door Locks that automatically locks all the doors when the car
reaches 15 kph. According to HCPI, these features "not only provide convenience to the customers, but also improve their ownership experience through added safety."
What engine does the Honda Civic RS have and how much is it?
The Honda Civic RS Turbo is powered by a
turbocharged 1.5-liter DOHC VTEC engine with its output of
171 hp and
220 Nm of torque delivered to the front wheels through its
Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) developed under Honda's
Earth Dreams Technology. Some semblance of manual control is also given through the CVT via the
steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters "for a sportier driving performance."
The updated Honda Civic RS Turbo is now available in all Honda dealerships with the following suggested retail prices:
- RS Turbo – P1.413 million
- RS Turbo Modulo – P1.460 million
- RS Turbo Modulo Sport – P1.525 million

The updates to the Honda Civic RS Turbo comes nearly a month after HCPI updated the
Honda Civic 1.8 E variant by equipping it with features that the top-spec 1.5 RS has--Remote Engine Start, Walk-Away Auto Lock--and, at that time, didn't have--Power Folding Side Mirrors, Speed-Sensing Auto Door Lock.
