Honda Cars Philippines Inc. (HCPI) revealed that its all-new City, in both sedan and hatchback forms, reached a high of than 25 kilometers per liter (kpl) during a recent fuel economy run.
Conducted in partnership with the Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP) the all-new City Hatch 1.5 RS CVT managed to reach 25 kilometers to a liter after covering 73.5 kilometers of highway. On the other hand, the sedan counterpart had a higher reading of 25.17kpl.
The latest figures are a significant improvement over the previous numbers that the City garnered in a fuel economy run in 2017. Back then, the subcompact sedan achieved 23.9kpl.
The parameters followed during the newest economy run for both units were the following:
One of the best-selling nameplates for the Honda Philippines, the fifth-generation City was revealed in October last year, in time for the HCPI’s 30th anniversary. The hatchback equivalent was introduced here last April in the distributor’s bid to expand the renowned Honda City model lineup.
The two offerings highlight their 1.5-liter four-cylinder DOHC i-VTEC engine mated with continuously variable transmission (CVT) that produces up to a maximum power output of 119hp and peak torque of 145Nm.
HCPI President Masahiko Nakamura is elated with the numbers.
“The fuel economy run is our own initiative, in partnership with and supervision of Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP). Through this, we hope to provide customers accurate information that would aid them to form a decision in their car selection and purchase process. The positive results from the activity reaffirm the fuel efficiency of both City models, hopefully making them a favorable sedan and hatchback choice for the Filipino people,” Nakamura was quoted as saying.
