Honda Civic, CR-V, HR-V receive IIHS ‘Top Safety’ ratings
Honda announced that United States (US)-specification Civic, CR-V, and HR-V, have earned “Top Safety” ratings from the Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

Per Honda, the 2023 CR-V and HR-V both received the Top Safety Pick+ award.The 2023 Honda Civic Hatchback (except the Type R performance variant) and Civic Sedan were both awarded the 2023 Top Safety Pick award. Meanwhile, the 2023 Honda CR-V and HR-V received the highest possible rating from the organization — the 2023 Top Safety Pick+ (TSP+) award.
Further, Honda announced that the 2023 Odyssey was awarded the 2023 TSP+ award.
The automotive firm also shared that it is targeting more TSP+ awards through the 2023 Accord and Pilot. However, the said vehicles are yet to be tested by IIHS for 2023.
Alongside the aforementioned Honda models were three nameplates from the carmaker’s luxury division, Acura. These are the 2023 Integra, MDX, and RDX. All three models were given the 2023 TSP+ award.
Per the Japanese car brand, the company believes that the Honda Sensing and AcuraWatch driver-assistive and safety technology were key to achieving such a feat.
The said suite of safety features are either standard or made as an available add-on on every Honda and Acura model in the US. Its features include technologies like Collision Mitigation Braking System with Pedestrian Detection, Forward Collision Warning, Road Departure Mitigation incorporating Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keeping Assist System, and Adaptive Cruise Control.
Further, Honda shared that all its vehicles benefit from the brand’s proprietary Advanced Compatibility Engineering body structure, designed to protect occupants in a wide variety of frontal collisions, along with advanced supplemental restraint systems, such as pre-tensioning front seatbelts, and front, side, knee and side-curtain airbags.
