Honda Civic Type R owners in the United States and in the United Kingdom can now purchase performance exhaust systems from Milltek Sport.
According to the English automotive tuning company, it has now launched a new range of performance pipes for American and European models of the sixth-generation Honda Civic Type R, dubbed the FL5.
Released with much fanfare, the new souped-up version of Honda’s iconic sedan is hailed the most powerful in its line. The new exhaust systems developed by Milltek Sport reduce back pressure by over 20 percent, which drives the engine power even further across the rev range and enhances the performance of the vehicle’s turbo.
Further, Milltek Sport revealed that the tuning company’s revised exhaust valve design also resulted in a 15-percent increase in its diameter compared to the stock exhaust, allowing the driver to control exhaust notes and volume via the factory-selectable Civic Type R driving modes.
Customers can choose between exhaust pipes with race or road specifications.
All of the exhaust systems are comprised of seven key components, which are a front flex pipe, front silencer or bypass section, center silencer or bypass section, rear connecting pipe, dual rear silencer, 15 percent larger valve outlet, and choice of tailpipe tips.
To provide further personalization, customers can choose from five different finishes: Polished Stainless, Cerakote Satin Black, Brushed Titanium, Burnt/Blue Titanium, and Carbon Fiber.
Those purchasing Milltek Sport’s Honda Civic Type R FL5 exhaust pipes can expect to receive a brand-new heat shield design that isolates the boot floor from heat transfer, improving airflow around the rear silencer.
“Milltek Sport has been closely linked with Honda’s hottest hatch for years and remains the title sponsor of the Civic Cup – one of the most exciting one-make championships on the race meeting calendar. Calling on its vast experience on road and track over the last 40 years, the company is proud to be one of the first to market with the latest FL5. Like all Milltek Sport systems, the new FL5 Type R range has been designed, developed and produced at the company’s Advanced Manufacturing Centre in Derby, UK, with additional testing at the Milltek Sport GmbH site, near the fabled Nürburgring race circuit,” Milltek Sport wrote in a press release.
