Honda CR-V gets 5-star ASEAN NCAP rating

The 2023 Honda CR-V received a five-star rating from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) New Car Assessment Program (NCAP).

According to the organization, the 2023 Honda CR-V garnered good results in both the Adult Occupant and Child Occupant safety tests where it scored 39.31 points and 17.97 points, respectively.

The former comprises three items, namely the Offset Frontal Test, Side Impact Test, and Head Protection Technology Evaluation. In these tests, the 2023 Honda CR-V scored 15.40 points, 8.00 points, and 8.00 points, in the said order.

For the latter, the assessments involved a Front Impact test and a Side Impact test with two categories (Q1.5 and Q3). The 2023 Honda CR-V scored 8.00 points and 4.00 points respectively on the said evaluations, garnering a total of 12.00 points for the Front Impact and Side Impact tests.

The ASEAN NCAP also stated that the 2023 Honda CR-V scored 18.5 points and 11.32 points for the Safety Assist and Motorcyclist Safety tests done on the sport utility vehicle (SUV).

“The SUV is equipped with a number of safety technologies as standard across all its variants comprising eight airbags, Electronic Stability Control, Anti-lock Braking System, Seatbelt Reminder System for frontal and rear seats occupants, Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) City, AEB Inter-Urban, AEB Pedestrian, Auto High Beam, Pedestrian Protection technology and Child Presence Detection. The seven-seater SUV also offers other advanced safety assist technologies namely Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Keep Assist, Driver Attention Monitor, Blind Spot Visualization for passenger side, FCW for Motorcycle and AEB for Motorcycle, which are available either as standard or optional fitment,” ASEAN NCAP wrote in a press release.

“The Honda CR-V’s consistently remarkable performance continues in this assessment with an achievement score of 87.16 points. The collective scoring from the four assessment categories has made the model eligible to be awarded with a Five-Star ASEAN NCAP rating,” it added.

Earlier, Honda Cars Philippines Incorporated (HCPI) announced that it will introduce the sixth-generation CR-V next month, which will come with a hybrid powertrain option.
