Honda PH brings more power to PCX with bigger engine displacement

PCX160

The local arm for Japanese motorcycle brand Honda has brought to Philippine roads the bigger displacement version of the PCX—the all-new PCX160.

Now powered by a 157-cc four-valve, single overhead cam (SOHC), liquid-cooled engine, the all-new Honda PCX160 is set to provide a peak output of 15.8 horsepower. The same engine, equipped with Enhanced Smart Power Plus (eSP+) can also churn 45.1 kilometers per liter fuel consumption. To note, the 150-cc version with eSP could deliver 13.3 hp.

The all-new Honda PCX160 is also fitted with new design for the LED headlight with position light, taillights and wheel design, a hazard lamp, bigger tubeless tires for better grip twin shock rear suspension and a wider digital meter panel.

Some of the noteworthy features are the Idling Stop System (ISS), an upgraded USB type power outlet, and the Smart Key with Anti-Theft Alarm and Answer Back System. The all-new Honda PCX160 has 30-liter utility box and an eight-liter fuel tank capacity.

Further, the all-new Honda PCX160—set to rival the Yamaha Nmax (which also had a recent upgrade)—comes in two brake variations, namely the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) type and the Combi-Brake System (CBS) type. Both offerings from Honda Philippines Inc. (HPI) are equipped with front and rear disc brakes.

The ABS variant—also equipped with Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC)—is meant combine to ensure rider’s safety: HSTC controls safety on wheel traction, while ABS provides safety rebound to prevent braking lock-up.

Meanwhile the CBS variant is combined with front and rear disc brakes, letting riders achieve smoother operation and better handling while braking.

The All-New PCX160 ABS variant, which comes in two colors (Asteroid Black Metallic and the Pearl Fadeless White), has a suggested retail price of P133,900 while the lower CBS variant (available in Matte Dim Gray Metallic and the Pearl Fadeless White) has a price tag of P115,900

HPI President Susumu Mitsuishi expressed confidence on the new offering for the nameplate, which has shown a huge following in the local market.

"At Honda Philippines, we want to impact the lives of all Filipinos with our motorcycles. We believe The All-New PCX160 will do just that. After all, what we want is to contribute to the creation of a better, new normal," the HPI executive said.

However, this offering will only be available starting May 2021. With still two months to go, are you willing to wait for offer?
