Honda Philippines Incorporated (HPI) shared some safety tips for those who will be riding their motorcycles this rainy season after it mentioned that studies show wet road conditions can increase the risk of traffic accidents.
On that note, here are a few pointers for owners of Honda motorcycles, like the Honda PCX 160, who will be out and about despite the rainy weather.
Whether riding on dry or wet roads, going over the speed limit could potentially cause accidents. Riding one’s motorcycle at high speeds during wet conditions can compromise one’s handling ability and lower braking response time.
Since safety is always top-of-mind in all Honda motorcycles, the PCX160 comes in two variants, a Combi Brake System (CBS) model and an Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS)-equipped grade.
The CBS variant, Honda Philippines pointed out, is engineered to provide about 20 percent braking power to the front brakes when engaging just the rear brake lever. As for the ABS model, it can adjust the braking pressure accordingly to prevent the wheel from locking and assist with maintaining the stability of the motorbike.
Maintaining one’s motorcycle is key to keeping it running in good condition. And while most riders would focus on engine maintenance, it’s imperative to look at other components of the motorbike.
Things to check include the shock absorbers, the tires, and the brake pads.
Additionally, it would be proper to check one’s lights as good headlamps and taillamps can improve one’s visibility and presence, especially during rainy days.
On that note, the Honda PCX 160 is equipped with a new and elegant LED headlight paired with a new, slimmer X-shaped tail light design.
Having a well-maintained motorbike is not enough to keep one safe when riding under a sudden downpour of rain. That said, Honda is encouraging riders to be mindful of road conditions and to watch out for potholes, diggings, and even fellow motorists.
When it comes to handling road conditions, the Honda PCX 160 is capable enough to conquer various challenges thanks to its innovative Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) feature that can prevent the motorcycle’s wheels from slipping.
Moreover, Honda’s small-displacement scooter is fitted with 110/70 tires at the front and 110/70 tires at the rear to provide better balance no matter the road condition.
Riders need to stay connected to their loved ones, especially when caught up in bad weather. Keeping their loved ones informed about their whereabouts is important during this rainy season.
Luckily, the Honda PCX 160 is equipped with a built-in USB charging port for charging phones so riders can always contact their families no matter what.
The Honda PCX 160 is equipped with a 157 cubic centimeter engine and is priced at P133,900 (CBS) and P151,900 (ABS), respectively.
