Back in April, we covered the
2017 Indonesia International Motor Show where we witnessed the launch of the
all-new Honda CR-V. This was a month after the vehicle made its
ASEAN market launch at the 2017 Bangkok International Motor Show. It was during the launch in Indonesia that we wondered what particular CR-V the Philippine market will get when it's our turn to launch the CR-V because the Thai-market CR-V is led by the
1.6-liter Diesel Turbo whereas the Indonesia-market model is bannered by the
gasoline-fed 1.5-liter Direct Injection Turbo. Well,
Honda Cars Philippines (HCPI) recently sent out its invitation to the launch of the all-new Honda CR-V and headlining it will reportedly be the seven-seater, diesel-powered model.
While HCPI has yet to disclose any details on the Philippine-market CR-V, what we do know about the Thai-market diesel CR-V is that its
1.6-liter, two-stage turbo i-DTEC diesel engine produces
160 hp and
350 Nm of torque and that it's mated to a
nine-speed, shift-by-wire automatic transmission.
We doubt if HCPI will sell just the diesel CR-V but in Thailand, a second CR-V model is equipped with a
173 hp,
224 Nm,
2.4-liter DOHC i-VTEC gasoline engine that's paired to a continuously variable transmission (CVT). In Indonesia on the other hand, the CR-V is offered with either a
1.5-liter Direct Injection Turbo engine with an output of
187 hp and
240 Nm or a
2.0-liter i-VTEC mill that produces
152 hp and
189 Nm, with both engines paired to an
Earth Dreams CVT.
Besides the third-row seat, which isn't offered in most crossovers in its class, another standout feature of the all-new Honda CR-V is its
Hands-Free Powered Tailgate which, incidentally, has an adjustable height as well.
So, other than the diesel-powered Honda CR-V, which of the gasoline-powered models do you think will make its way here?
