KEY TAKEAWAYS
Is the Honda Pilot equipped with the Honda Sensing?
Yes, the Honda Pilot is equipped with the Honda Sensing. What safety structure technology does Honda use with the Pilot?
Per Honda, the Pilot is equipped with the Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure.Per the latest results posted by IIHS, the 2023 Honda Pilot scored “Good” ratings on four of its crashworthiness tests, namely the small overlap front: driver-side; small overlap front: passenger-side; moderate overlap front: original test; and side: updated test.
Meanwhile, the 2023 Honda Pilot only scored a “Marginal” rating in the safety organization’s moderate overlap front: updated test crashworthiness test.
In the crash avoidance and mitigation category, the 2023 Honda Pilot scored “Good” and “Superior” ratings on all of the tests.
Likewise, the SUV garnered “Good” ratings on all tests in the seat belts and child restraints category.
According to the United States (US) arm of Honda, the Pilot sport utility vehicle (SUV) was awarded the said rating due to its suite of safety and driver-assistive technologies, which includes Honda Sensing that is based on the carmaker’s long-standing “Safety for Everyone” approach.
The aforementioned Honda Sensing comes with features like a collision mitigation braking system with pedestrian detection, evaluated by the IIHS as a “front crash prevention” system; forward collision warning; road departure mitigation, which incorporates lane departure warning; lane keeping assist system; and adaptive cruise control.
In the US, Honda Sensing is now standard on all new Honda models, found on more than six million Honda vehicles on American roads today.
Additionally, all Honda vehicles benefit from the marque’s proprietary Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure, designed to help protect occupants in a wide variety of frontal collisions, along with advanced supplemental restraint systems.
For the 2023 Honda Pilot, the automaker’s engineers enhanced ACE with a new structure that is optimized and integrated into the front sub-frame and side-frame that improves the SUV’s crash compatibility with smaller vehicles, and occupant protection in oblique frontal collisions.
Moreover, the 2023 Honda Pilot also added the brand’s award-winning front passenger airbag that uses a three-chamber design that is particularly beneficial in angled frontal impacts in which lateral collision forces can cause an occupant’s head to rotate severely or slide off the airbag, increasing the chance of serious injury.
To note, the Honda Pilot was once released here in the Philippines. It saw two generations before the Japanese carmaker finally pulled the nameplate out in the local market.
