Honda has revealed what the next-generation Honda Accord midsize sedan will look like via concept as well as shared what powertrain choices it will have--at least for the United States market.
Based on the sketch, it's clear that the next-generation Accord borrows a lot of styling cues from the Civic, like the slim, multi-element headlights and the chrome grille that extends over the headlights. The midsize sedan though has LED fog lights and has a more aerodynamically-sculpted front bumper, giving the tenth-generation Accord (globally, sixth-gen locally) a more aggressive and athletic stance.
As for the powertrain choices, the Accord will have three options: a 1.5-liter direct-injected and turbocharged 4-cylinder engine partnered with either a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) or a six-speed manual transmission; a 2.0-liter direct-injected and turbocharged 4-cylinder i-VTEC mill paired with either a 10-speed automatic transmission--the first-ever 10-speed AT for a front-wheel-drive passenger car--or a 6-speed manual; and an all-new, more refined version of Honda's innovative two-motor hybrid technology that operates without the use of a conventional automatic transmission.
The all-new Honda Accord is due to be launched later this year with the Japanese carmaker releasing more details about the model as the launch date draws closer.
