The Honda e:Ny1 makes as much as 201 horsepower and 310 Newton-meters of torque. The Honda e:Ny1 electric vehicle (EV) builds upon the Honda e city car and, as the Japanese carmaker explained, is designed to meet the growing customer demand for all-electric B-segment SUVs.
“The e:Ny1 is the logical next step on our electrification journey in Europe. Our development philosophy blends intelligent, customer-centric technology with beautiful design and fun-to-drive dynamics. This latest SUV exemplifies Honda’s commitment to electrification and is the latest step on Honda’s electrification journey,” Honda Motor Europe Ltd. Senior Vice President Tom Gardner was quoted saying.
The Honda e:Ny1 is built on the Tokyo-headquartered brand’s newly-developed e:N Architecture F, which is a front-motor-driven platform focused on three fundamental attributes: a dedicated high rigidity body structure, a low center of gravity, and carefully managed under-floor aerodynamics to ensure the SUV delivers fun and confidence-inspiring drive.
The platform houses a high-performance, lightweight three-in-one integrated power drive unit, electric motor, and gearbox. In unison, this EV powertrain system makes as much as 201 horsepower and 310 Newton-meters of torque.
Further, this setup works in conjunction with a high-capacity lithium-ion battery that will allow would-be owners to enjoy 412 kilometers of emission-free range. The said battery, Honda pointed out, can be charged (using a DC fast charger) from 10 to 80 percent in as fast as 45 minutes.
Outside, the Honda e:Ny1 EV SUV flaunts a body with a short front overhang, large wheels, and a wide track. It also wears the new Honda EV badge, characterized by a white “H” emblem slapped on its front end, wheel center caps, and on its steering wheel.
Additionally, the rear end of the Honda e:Ny1 will feature a “Honda” script that will be used on the carmaker’s future EVs.
Inside, the Honda e:Ny1 gets a large 15.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless charging, and multiple storage options.
According to Honda's United Kingdom website, the e:Ny1 will become available in the autumn (from September to November) of 2023.
