American Honda Motor Co., Inc., the US arm of the Japanese carmaker, recently launched the all-new 2022 Civic hatchback in the States.
Honda says that the new Civic hatchback model is designed and engineered to meet the needs and desires of young, active buyers.
The first Civic hatchback built in the US will feature Honda’s new front fascia with slim LED headlamps adjoined by a similarly narrow upper grille with a honeycomb design. The larger lower part of the radiator grille is flanked by two front frog lamps giving the new Honda Civic hatchback an aesthetically pleasing asymmetrical look.
A smooth, sleek roof bridges the front end to the rear which features a discreet spoiler and LED brake and taillights. Dual exhaust finishers are available for the five-door hatchback’s range-topping variant.
Depending on the trim level, the Euro-inspired coupe-like hatch will ride on either 16-, 17- or 18-inch alloy wheels.
In classic Honda fashion, the all-new Civic hatchback will sport a simple interior design which makes the sporty sedan quite inviting instead of being intimidating.
Higher trims will get leather seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, leather-wrapped shift knobs, and sport pedals. It will also be equipped with a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system (nine-inch for the top-of-the-line variant) with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionalities.
Owners can see relevant driving information on a seven-inch instrument cluster placed ahead of the multi-functional steering wheel.
Honda also packed the 2022 Civic hatchback with a suite of safety features including a collision mitigation braking system, a road departure mitigation system, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, and a traffic sign recognition system, among other passive and active safety amenities.
The all-new Civic hatchback can either be had with a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine or a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder mill. These powerplants can also be mated to either a six-speed manual or a CVT.
“This is the most fun-to-drive Civic hatchback we've ever made. Our 11th-generation Civic Sedan is already a runaway success and now this all-new Civic Hatchback further amplifies the performance of the Civic lineup,” said American Honda Motor Executive VP for National Operations Dave Gardner.
The Honda Civic hatchback will be made available in six variants: LX (CVT), Sport (6MT), Sport (CVT), EX-L (CVT), Sport Touring (6MT), and Sport Touring (CVT). Pricing ranges from US$22,900 to US$29,400.
