Honda scores production milestones for July
The Honda Motor Company recently released a summary of car production, Japan domestic sales, and export number for the month of July 2020, while COVID-19 restrictions were still in full swing in many markets and relaxed in others.
As expected, the current global situation has impacted more than a few areas of Honda’s business, but one area where the Japanese carmaker saw major improvement was in world production, where car manufacturing in regions outside of the Land of the Rising Sun saw a year-on-year increase for the first time in ten months.
Honda managed to produce 364,415 units outside of Japan, marking a year-on-year growth of 104.3 percent.
In China, the company was able to produce 178,925 units, representing a 129.4 percent surge for July 2020 compared to the same period last year.
Both are record highs for the month of July for the brand.
Below is the breakdown for Honda’s year-on-year numbers for the month of July this year.
World production
- Production in Japan experienced a year-on-year decrease for the 11th consecutive month.
- Production in regions outside of Japan experienced a year-on-year increase for the first time in ten months.
- Worldwide production experienced a year-on-year decrease for the 12th consecutive month.
Sales in the Japanese market
- Total Japanese sales experienced a year-on-year decrease for the 10th consecutive month.
- New vehicle registrations experienced a year-on-year decrease for the 10th consecutive month.
- Sales of mini-vehicles experienced a year-on-year decrease for the fifth consecutive month.
- The Honda Fit was the industry’s fifth best-selling car among new vehicle registrations for the month of July 2020 with sales of 9,213 units.
- The Honda N-BOX was the industry’s top-selling car in the mini-vehicle category for the month of July 2020 with sales of 16,222 units. N-WGN was the industry’s ninth best-selling car in the mini-vehicle category for the month of July 2020 with sales of 6,169 units.
Exports from Japan
-Total exports from Japan experienced a year-on-year decrease for the fourth consecutive month.
