The all-new Hyundai Santa Fe offers significant updates, which makes the sport utility vehicle (SUV) a more appealing option for the brand’s customers.
According to Hyundai, the South Korean automotive brand took an unusual design strategy with the Santa Fe. To begin with, the SUV now has a higher bonnet, H-shaped headlamps, and sharply-defined fenders, which make a strong first impression.
Together, the H-shaped headlamps and lower front valance design draw inspiration from the Hyundai emblem to produce a bold and distinctive image.
Per Hyundai, the side profile of the all-new Santa Fe offers a sense of grandeur thanks to a longer wheelbase. Additionally, it has a clean, sculptured side complemented by a bold roofline, generous volume around the fenders, robust wheel arches, a shorter front overhang, and bold 21-inch wheels.
Finally, the rear end of the all-new Hyundai Santa Fe has a wider tailgate, which reinforces the sense of solidity while creating a simpler, sculptural look. The H-shaped taillights harmonize with the front H-lights to provide the all-new Santa Fe with a distinctive presence on the road.
“The all-new Santa Fe is an SUV that finds a perfect balance between city life and the great outdoors, handling everything from busy family itineraries to camping adventures. With its longer wheelbase, roomy interior, and terrace-like tailgate space, the new Santa Fe leans into its SUV strengths to offer more versatility than ever before with a premium customer experience,” commented Hyundai Global Design Center Head and Executive Vice President SangYup Lee.
The H-shaped design continues inside the SUV’s cabin and can be found on its dashboard and air vents, which creates a sense of openness and offers a unique design balance.
On the said dashboard sits a first-in-class Panoramic Curved Display, which encompasses the 12.3-inch digital cluster and infotainment system. Additionally, the SUV comes with a UV-C Sterilization Tray and a dual wireless charging system for smartphones.
Thanks to the aforementioned extension in its wheelbase, the all-new Hyundai Santa Fe can house fully foldable second-and third-row seats that create terrace-like space at the rear, especially with the previously mentioned wider tailgate space.
On that note, the all-new Hyundai Santa Fe is touted as a lifestyle SUV for people who are fond of outdoor activities like camping.
“Since the first-generation Santa Fe’s debut 23 years ago, this iconic SUV has won the hearts of millions of customers around the world. The all-new Santa Fe’s bold and powerful identity, which encompasses the boundless outdoors and urban landscape, will establish an unrivaled presence in the mid-sized SUV market,” stated Hyundai Motor Company President and Chief Executive Officer Jaehoon Chang.
In Korea and North America, the all-new Santa Fe will be available with two powertrain options: a 2.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with a maximum output of 277 horsepower (hp) and maximum torque of 421 Newton-meters and a 1.6-liter turbocharged hybrid powerplant that puts out as much as 177hp and 264Nm of pulling power.
The former is mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission while the latter, paired to a six-speed automatic slushbox.
“The original Santa Fe was our very first SUV in the US. Today, we have a well-recognized and respected portfolio of 14 SUV models that include internal combustion engine, electric, hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and hydrogen fuel cell models. With the 2024 Santa Fe, we continue our impressive transformation of the Hyundai brand and the broader SUV landscape. The all-new Santa Fe is the perfect companion for everyday adventures with a modern, premium touch,” noted Hyundai Motor Company President and Global Chief Operating Officer José Muñoz.
The all-new Santa Fe is scheduled for release in Korea in the second half of this year and in North America and Europe in the first half of next year. The North American premiere will be held at the 2023 Los Angeles Auto Show.
