Hyundai Creta gets 5-star rating from ASEAN NCAP

The Hyundai Creta received a five-star rating from the New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asian Countries (ASEAN NCAP).

The vehicle is one of the two new models under the South Korean automotive marque that were recently evaluated by the assessors in the region.

Based on the results released by the ASEAN NCAP, the sport utility vehicle (SUV) offering had a total of 75.78 points. The accumulated points were garnered from the following categories:

• 34.72 points for the Adult Occupant Protection
• 15.56 points for Child Occupant Protection
• 14.08 points for Safety Assist
• 11.42 points for Motorcyclist Safety

The evaluators attributed the overall score that the five-seater SUV’s safety features namely the airbags (as much as six, depending on the variant), electronic stability control, anti-lock braking system, seatbelt reminder system for frontal occupants, ISOFIX installation for child seats and Pedestrian Protection technology as standard in all its variants.

Other safety assist technologies available in the Hyundai Creta are the autonomous emergency braking ([AEB> for city, inter-urban, and pedestrian), forward collision warning, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, auto high beam, and blind spot detection.

Further, the Hyundai Creta also comes with child presence detection (CPD) and rear cross-traffic collision- avoidance assist (RCCA) for motorcycles as optional fitment.

 

“The RCCA is an additional safety technology that Hyundai highlighted in the assessment in which it is able to detect the presence of an approaching vehicle, either from the left or right, while reversing at low speed. The technology will initially provide a warning to alert the driver but it will automatically assist with braking in the event the risk of collision increases,” the ASEAN NCAP shared.

“Although both the CPD and RCCA are only offered as an optional fitment, their availability in the Creta is critically important as consumers will have the options to choose the variant fitted with both technologies,” it added.

Powering the Hyundai Creta is a 1.5-liter Smartstream engine mated to either a six-speed slushbox or an intelligent variable transmission.

Offered in three variants, the price for the Hyundai Creta starts at P998,000 up to P1.332 million.

The aforementioned model is one of the initial models that the Hyundai Motor Philippines has offered in the country. However, the nameplate was first brought into the country by the brand’s previous distributorv, Hyundai Asia Resources Inc. (HARI).
