Hyundai Modern Jeepneys to boost new normal mobility support in Cavite
The local truck and bus arm for Korean vehicle maker Hyundai will now be powering a huge chunk of the public transportation vehicles in Bacoor after they have recently turned over the initial batch of Class 2 Modern Jeepneys to Gardenia Kapit-Bisig.
A total of 120 units of Hyundai HD50S Class 2 modern jeepneys have been delivered to Gardenia Kapit-Bisig, one of Bacoor City’s leading multi-purpose cooperatives with a broad membership engaged in the businesses of transport, water refilling, and travel tours in Metro Manila and CALABARZON.
Hyundai Trucks and Buses Philippines made the delivery through Hyundai Trucks and Buses Alabang. Gracing the event were Bacoor Mayor Lani Mercado-Revilla and Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Region 4 Director Renwick Rutaquio.
According to Revilla, the presence of modern jeepneys in Bacoor “signals progress in local government efforts to transform Bacoor into a smart city.” Revilla, who did a test ride of one of the turned over units, observed that the units will give commuters a cool, comfortable, and safer ride.
Hyundai Alabang Chief Operating Officer Maxwell Quilat assured the group that they will have maintenance support from the company’s dealerships in Alabang, Las Piñas, and Silang, Cavite.
Hyundai HD50S Class 2 Modern Jeepneys are equipped with a 2.9-liter Euro 4-compliant CRDi engine, ensuring power and fuel efficiency, carrying the vehicle with a 3,415-millimeter wheelbase with ease. It can accommodate 22 seated passengers as well as up to 10 standing commuters.
Aside from that, the delivered units are fitted with roof-mounted air conditioning, AFCS, Wi-Fi, GPS tracking, CCTV cameras, 7-inch monitor, and speed limiter, contactless payment system, individualized seating, and plastic dividers to ensure social distancing for the riding public.
To note, the H-100 Modern Jeepney Class 1 and HD50S Modern Jeepney Class 2 had their Certificates of Compliance (COCs) back in 2019, while the HD50S Modern Jeepney Class 3 received its COC just this September.
Hyundai Trucks and Buses President Ma. Fe Perez-Agudo, through Hyundai Asia Resources Inc. (HARI) CV Sales Head Monch Osorio, sent her well wishes to the company’s latest “partner in every way,” likening the turnover to the traditional Christmas exchange of gifts: from Hyundai to Kapit-Bisig, “the gift of safe, reliable, and comfortable mobility” and from Gardenia Kapit-bisig to Hyundai, “the gift of trust and support.”
