The company's New Year town hall meeting was held at its Namyang Research and Development Center.Per the automotive conglomerate, the upcoming launch of the said models will help the firm expand opportunities for providing diverse EV experiences to customers while strengthening its position in the global EV market.
“In 2023, we will continue to develop and provide innovative vehicles to solidify our leadership position in the global EV market and continue the shift to electrification,” said Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chair Euisun Chung at the consortium’s New Year town hall meeting held earlier this week at the company’s Namyang Research and Development Center.
The Kia EV9 SUV was first shown to the public at the 2021 Los Angeles Auto Show. Then a concept car, the Kia EV9 SUV reimagines what an all-electric vehicle can be.
Some of its features include a solar panel built into the hood, a 27-inch ultra-wide infotainment display, and interior appointments made from sustainable materials.
The Kia Ray EV, on the other hand, is the all-electric version of the brand’s small city car. News about South Korea’s first electric car surfaced in 2011, although not much of it was heard since then. That said, only 2,500 units of the Kia Ray EV were reportedly built in 2012 and were distributed to South Korea’s government agencies and public offices.
And as for the Hyundai Kona EV, the model is currently offered in various markets — like the United States — so the group might be referring to a refreshed version of the nameplate. Word on the web says that the 2024 Hyundai Kona EV will be larger than its predecessor. Reportedly, it will also get pixel headlights reminiscent of the ones we’ve seen on the Ioniq 6.
