Hyundai Motor Philippines, Inc. (HMPH) has revealed the latest member of its local lineup with the introduction of the new Stargazer.
The vehicle months after HMPH Managing Director Cecil Capacete told Carmudi Philippines that the MPV will be revealed “before the year ends.”
The seven-seater multi-purpose vehicle sports attention-grabbing styling, advanced driver assistive technologies as well as premium comfort and space.
Veering away from the usual look that its competitors carry, the new Hyundai Stargazer design elements for its exterior is inspired by the brand’s “pioneering spirit”. The vehicle’s front fascia comes with a flush-type radiator grille flanked with a pair of multi-face reflector (MFR) headlights, a boldly-styled skid plate, a horizontal LED strip that cuts across and integrates the Daytime Running Lights (DRL) and positioning lamps.
The new Hyundai Stargazer has a sleek body design that enhances its aerodynamics and flag-type side mirrors that maximize field of view while minimizing wind noise.
The vehicle boasts a 2,7800-millimeter-long wheelbase that translates to a roomy cabin, complemented by a PVC-fitted delta glass between the A-pillar and side mirror as well as the quarter glass melded towards the back that provides better visibility and a sense of openness. The new Hyundai Stargazer sits on 16-inch diamond cut alloy wheels.
At the rear are the sleek bumper and skid plates and H-signature tail lamp.
While it looks like a smaller version of the Hyundai Staria, the new Stargazer does not come short of spectacular. For one, the MPV has 31 nooks and crannies fitted onto the dashboard, center console, seats, and door trims that provides convenience for every occupant.
Further, the Hyundai Stargazer features an intuitive 4.2-inch TFT-LCD cluster with a digital tachometer, speedometer, fuel indicator that is in sync with four drive modes namely Eco, Smart, Comfort and Sport. It also features an eight-inch touchscreen display with wireless phone projection for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. To add, it has two device holders and six chargers, including a wireless power charger below the main air-conditioning panel.
Powering the newly-launched model is a 1.5 Smartstream Intelligent Variable Transmission (iVT) engine, which is capable of producing a maximum of 113 horsepower and 144Nm of pulling power. HMPH said that iVT is one of the brand’s flagship proprietary technologies that is designed to shift gears more responsively with less delay or lag resulting in a smoother and more enjoyable ride while having better fuel economy.
Moreover, the new Hyundai Stargazer is fitted with a myriad of safety and security functions such as the emergency stop signal, hill-start assist control, highly rigid chassis, six-airbag system and tire pressure monitor system.
Also equipped in the people carrier is the Hyundai SmartSense driver assistance system that has the following:
HMPH also said that the new Hyundai Stargazer is equipped with smart controls that allow the owner to remotely start the ignition and roll down or close the windows from outside the vehicle just by pressing and holding down the buttons of the key. This is especially helpful before getting in, when parked outdoors under the sun for an extended period.
