The MPV segment here in the country proves to be one, with its exponential growth over the years,” HMPH President Dongwook Lee said.
“Today, we present what the luxury of movement is. Upgrades to our lineup were made so that our customers can have an even more exceptional MPV experience. We wish to ensure there is a Hyundai suited for every type of Filipino family, considering their lifestyle and must-haves,” he added.
Custin
Serving as the brand’s newest nameplate in the Philippines, the Hyundai Custin is expected to compete against the likes of the Toyota Zenix.
The newly-revealed model is 4,950 millimeters (mm) long with a 3,055mm wheelbase, and a ground clearance of 170 mm.
Expressing the brand’s Sensuous Sportiness design concept, the Custin wears a more rugged look—resembling to Hyundai’s sport utility vehicles such as the Tucson and Creta.
At the fore of the vehicle is the parametric diamond design grille flanked with hidden daytime running lights carried over to the sides unto the turn signal lamps, door handles and sill trims.
The vehicle sits on 18-inch dynamic blade aluminum alloy wheels.
At the rear are the aircraft wing-like taillights and the brand’s spelled-out letters (instead of the Hyundai emblem logo).
For its cabin, the Hyundai Custin takes inspiration from a private jet’s interior. Its cockpit is slimmer “cockpit” and has a flatter floor to maximize comfort.
The Hyundai Custin’s top-of-the-line trim offers a seven-seat configuration. Its second-row seats feature captain chairs with relaxation mode that can be activated using touch buttons on the armrest or via the 10.4-inch infotainment system. They can also be adjusted 10 ways and have ventilating and heating functions.
Complementing the passenger-centric amenities are the dual sunroof, rear curtains, backseat tables with tablet stand, wireless chargers in the first and second rows, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, as well as smart power sliding doors.
Propelling the new Hyundai Custin is a 1.5-liter turbo-charged Smartstream engine mated with an eight-speed automatic transmission that can dish out up to 168 horsepower and 253 Newton-meters of torque. It has four drive modes namely Comfort, Sport, Eco, and Smart.
Among the Hyundai SmartSense suite of technologies outfitted in the Custin includes forward-collision avoidance, lane keeping assist with lane following assist, blind-spot collision avoidance, safe exit assist, high beam assist, driver attention warning, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance assist and rear occupant alert.
Below are the variations and the respective pricing of the new Hyundai Custin, which can be had in Gray Metallic, Polar White, Aurora Blue Pearl:
- 1.5 T Premium 8AT: P2.08 million
- 1.5T GDI GLS 8AT: P1.77 million
The GLS variant has a black monotone interior while the Premium one with gray.
Stargazer X
Meanwhile, the Hyundai Stargazer X — which had its debut at the Gaiikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) in Jakarta — replaced the model’s six-seater GLS Premium IVT as the crème-dela-crème variant.
Outside, the Hyundai Stargazer X boasts a black roof with rails, a new three-dimensional stacked front grille, character lines on the hood, restyled bumpers, and rear spoiler extension.
The vehicle’s signature H-shaped taillights have been surrounded with black lamp bezels. The design goes well with sills and wheel arch trims as well as the 17-inch diamond cut alloy wheels.
For its interior, Stargazer X has been furnished with a new piano black dashboard panel, red stitching on the black seats and an updated overhead console lamp.
Since the aforementioned MPV is based on the GLS premium variant, it also comes with convenience and tech features such as the remote engine start and window control, six chargers (including a wireless one in the first row), 30 storage solutions, and electronic parking brake with auto hold function.
Its myriad of driver assistive features includes a front parking distance warning, among others. Offered in Creamy White Pearl, Magnetic Silver Metallic, and Dragon Red Pearl, the Hyundai Stargazer X comes with a sticker price of P1.348 million.
Just like other locally-retailed Hyundai models, the two are packaged with a five-year or 200,000-kilometer (whichever comes first) warranty.
