Those who have pre-ordered Hyundai Ioniq 5 since the 8th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) may soon have the keys to their reserved units.
Based on the information shared to Carmudi Philippines, Hyundai Motor Philippines (HMPH) is set to turn over the aforementioned model’s initial batch of examples either by last week of February or first week of March.
“These are the first ones who have waited for the model since the reservation period started,” the source said.
Back in December last year, HMPH President Dongwook Lee announced that the upcoming model will have two trims— both of which are in two-wheel drive format.
During the said event, Lee shared that the variants of the incoming Hyundai Ioniq 5 will be as follows (note that the pricing was revealed before President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. temporarily reduced the import duty rates on EV):
Further, the HMPH president said that the Philippine-spec Hyundai Ioniq 5— which was also previewed at the 10th Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit (PEVS) — will come in four body color options namely Phantom Black Pearl, Cyber Gray Metallic, Atlas White, and Gravity Gold Matte.
Moreover, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 — which was developed based on the Hyundai Motor Group’s Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) — has a vehicle-to-load (V2L) function and fitted with various driver assistance technologies to enhance the in-car experience for drivers and passengers.
In addition, the HMPH helm said that the EV offering will be packaged with a five-year or 200,000-kilometer (km) warranty, eight-year or 160,000km high-voltage battery warranty, and five-years or 75,000-km free maintenance service.
Earlier, the Ioniq 5 was hailed as the 2022-2023 Import Car of the Year at Japan Car of the Year (JCOTY) — which is the first time for Hyundai to snatch an award at JCOTY.
The Korean all-electric sport utility vehicle (which formed part of the 2022-2023 JCOTY shortlist) has beaten its competitors namely the BMW iX, Land Rover Range Rover and Renault Arkana—all of which were part of the 10 Best Cars of the Year.
