Hyundai PH to bring in Creta compact crossover for MIAS
Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI), the authorized distributor of Hyundai vehicles in the Philippines, is joining the subcompact crossover fray by bringing in the Hyundai Creta as its centerpiece display for the upcoming 2017 Manila International Auto Show.
Based on the same platform as the Kia Soul and the Hyundai i30, the Creta made its global debut as a concept at the 2014 Auto China motor show in April of the same year before the production version went on sale six months later as the Hyundai ix25 on October 2014. Nearly a year later, on July 2015, the vehicle made its debut in India as the Creta, which is where we'll be getting the Philippine-market unit from, much like the Hyundai Eon and Hyundai i10 models.
In India, the Creta is available with either a 1.6-liter CRDi VTG engine with 126 hp or a 1.6-liter Dual VTVT gasoline mill with 121 hp, with either engine paired to a six-speed automatic or manual transmission. A 1.4-liter CRDI engine that puts out 89 hp and is paired exclusively to a six-speed manual is also available.
As you can clearly see, the Creta bears Hyundai's Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design language, and coupled with the rear's design, makes the crossover look like a baby Tucson, down to the front and rear skid plates.
More than just HARI's teaser of the Creta on its Facebook page a couple of days ago, we can confirm the crossover's arrival in the Philippines since it will be the cover vehicle for our magazine's May issue.
