Hyundai PH registers 38.3% growth in Sept.

Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI) announced that it enjoyed a 38.3 percent increase in sales last month compared to August.

In a release, it attributed this improvement to the “easing of health restrictions in the National Capital Region and the resulting boost in consumer confidence,” The local importer of Korean automotive vehicles had a total of 830 units sold in September as compared to 600 units that were delivered to customers the preceding month.

Leading the sales charge was the brand’s passenger car (PC) lineup, which showed a 64.8-percent rise with its 529 units rolled out to buyers in comparison to the 321 vehicle sales output in August 2021. The Hyundai Accent spearheaded the sales rally with a 91.8-percent increase.

The Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) segment provided additional thrust to the momentum, selling 283 units — a 16.5-percent sales growth due to the 53.3 percent sales rise of the Hyundai H-100.

However, the story was different for the commercial vehicle (CV) division after it suffered a 50-percent decline in rollouts, experiencing the “lingering effects of the August lockdowns, including delays in the local production of the Class II and Class III Modern Jeepneys that use the Hyundai HD50S chassis.”

HARI President and Chief Executive Officer Ma. Fe Perez-Agudo expressed the company’s optimism, saying, “With news regarding the further decline of infections and the lowering of health-related restrictions in the country by the end of this month, we can look forward to providing our customers better journeys this holiday season."
