Hyundai set to reveal first commercial electric bus
On May 25 until May 28, Hyundai Motor Company will be holding the "Hyundai Truck and Bus Mega Fair" at the Hyundai Motorstudio, which opened recently in Goyang, South Korea, just outside of Seoul, and one of the main features at the four-day event will be the unveiling of the Korean carmaker's first all-electric bus for commercial use.
Based on reports, Hyundai's upcoming electric bus has a 260-kilometer driving range and can be fully-charged within an hour with a high-speed charger, with trial runs expected to start by the second half of 2017 before rolling out the production units globally in the first half of 2018.
Other than the electric bus, Hyundai is also expected to share its plans in developing environment-friendly commercial vehicles for the future.
While the buses and trucks are the expected highlights of the trade show, Hyundai will reportedly put on display 57 production cars, 106 special-purpose vehicles, and nine environment-friendly cars, including the Hyundai Solati (Hyundai H350, as it is known locally) fuel cell concept van. In addition, the show's visitors will also supposedly be able to test drive the exhibited trucks and buses at the show.
