Hyundai Staria gets 2022 Red Dot Award 'best of the best’ product design title

Hyundai Motor Company (HMC) shared that its Staria multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) took the 2022 Red Dot Award “Best of the Best” for Product Design accolade.

In a statement, the Korean automaker explained that the “Best of the Best” recognition is the highest title in the competition and awarded to those with groundbreaking designs.

“Staria took the honor in the Cars and Motorcycles category, further reinforcing Hyundai’s global competitiveness in product design,” HMC noted.

“Staria is Hyundai’s new MPV lineup crafted with the ‘inside-out’ design approach that has surely opened up a new mobility era for all,” Hyundai Executive Vice President and Global Design Center Head SangYup Lee was quoted as saying.

“Our design team has put their passion into this product, working closely with our world-class modelers and engineers to make the dream come true,” Lee added.

The Staria MPV features a futuristic and mysterious exterior that resembles a space shuttle with a comfortable interior to match.

Since its launch in 2021, the Hyundai Staria has already won several accolades for its design excellence and product innovation.

Meanwhile, the Red Dot Award (hosted by Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen in Germany) is considered one of the largest design competitions around the world.

The award breaks down into three different disciplines: Product Design, Brand and Communication Design, and Design Concept to better appraise the diversity in the field of design.

The Red Dot Award: Product Design sets out to find the year’s best market-ready products that are aesthetically appealing, functional, smart or innovative.
