The Staria is the South Korean automaker’s follow-up to its successful passenger van, the Starex.
Hyundai will make the Staria available in two powertrain options: a diesel-powered 2.2-liter VGT engine and a gasoline-powered Smartstream G6DIII 3.5-liter MPI engine.
The diesel mill will be mated to either a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission while the gasoline powerplant will be mated to an eight-speed automatic tranny. The former makes 175hp and 431Nm of torque while the former generates 268hp and 331Nm of torque.
Based on the teaser photos, however, Thailand will most likely be receiving the standard Staria model which features slim LED headlamps and a body-colored grille.
With the forthcoming launch of the MPV in our neighboring country, it’s only a matter of time before Hyundai brings the Staria to Philippine shores. Right?
