Hyundai Motor unveiled the design and features of the upcoming Santa Fe SUV, showcasing new styling elements and fresh features.
A rugged, yet sophisticated new design and now for the first time, state-of-the-art hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains are available.
In addition, it will be the first Hyundai vehicle in Europe to utilize the company’s all-new third-generation vehicle platform, resulting in improved performance, efficiency and safety.
The new Santa Fe—which will be available in Europe starting September 2020—features a bold and distinctive new design as well as a range of new technology and safety features.
“We modernized the New Santa Fe with premium features and appealing aesthetics that are sure to add value,” said Sang Yup Lee, Senior Vice President and head of global design Center.
The new Santa Fe exterior design makes a unique statement, flawlessly combining rugged looks and sophistication. The grille, with its signature geometric patterned inlay, also integrates the headlamps, a signature style found on many Hyundai cars. The eye-catching LED Daytime Running Lights (DRL) starts at the top of the grille and cu through it to create a unique and unmistakable graphic and reveals the turn signal as dual function.
On the lower bumper, the robust skid plate embraces the lower air intake, forming a clamp shape and visually supporting the main grille architecture. Wider wheel arch claddings and new alloy wheel designs, including a 20-inch option. The SUV’s redesigned taillights are connected across the rear hatch by a slim illuminated bar that complements the horizontal design theme on the front and sides of the vehicle which is also visible in the wide rear reflector and skid plates.
“With a range of new features, the New Santa Fe further progresses as a premium Vehicle” Andreas-Christoph Hofmann, Vice President Marketing and Product Hyundai Motor Europe.
The 2020 Santa Fe interior now provides more space, comfort, and convenience compared to the previous model. Hyundai promises to have every component finished in premium soft-touch materials to achieve a new level of luxury. It features a new lower dashboard design, a redesigned center console and a new 10.25-inch AVN touch screen.
The new floating center console with shift-by-wire buttons is connected to the crash pad in a smooth curve. The buttons are all centered for intuitive and ergonomic use. From the driver’s seat, everything is within easy reach. The cupholder can be closed when not in use and the tray under the console provides additional storage space.
The premium interior updates are rounded off by a new 12.3-inch fully digital cluster.
The first Hyundai model in Europe and first Hyundai SUV globally based on the all-new third-generation Hyundai vehicle platform. A new feature where a system controls the flow of air, the new platform improves air movement through the engine bay and allows heat to dissipate.
This enhances stability in the lower part of the vehicle. Vehicle stability is further enhanced by the lowered position of heavy equipment within the platform, which reduces weight and lowers the center of gravity.
Aerodynamics has also been improved so that air resistance is minimized to deliver excellent fuel efficiency, power and driving performance.
The new platform also brings with its significant improvements in impact safety. With techniques used like multi-load path structure, hot stamping, and the addition of a super high-tensile steel plate, the platform will enable the car to better absorb the impact in the result of a crash event while at the same time allowing it to minimize the deformation of the passenger space.
