Hyundai to supply 50 Ioniq 5 Lounge EVs to MK Taxi in Kyoto
The Japanese arm of Hyundai Motors announced that it will supply 50 Ioniq 5 Lounge EVs to the MK Group in Kyoto this summer. The aim, per Hyundai Motor Company’s Japanese business unit, is to help the taxi service operator and city achieve their respective carbon neutrality goals.

In February, MK stopped using LPG-powered vehicles, and in March, MK’s taxi fleet included 18 battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and 10 plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs). According to Hyundai, MK is planning to install fast charging stations at each of its taxi business locations.
Hyundai said that MK chose the Ioniq 5 Lounge because of the model’s long driving range and fast charging time. Also cited are the vehicle’s comfortable, spacious second row and its plethora of convenience features that are expected to provide an unsurpassed riding experience for MK passengers.
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 boasts an estimated all-electric range of around 618km on a single charge and has the ability to fast charge from 10 to 80 percent in just 18 minutes.
