What are some of the new features of the updated Hyundai i20?
Per Hyundai, new features flaunted by the updated i20 include a new grille, Z-shaped headlamps, and a palette of fresh finishes, to name a few. What powers the new Hyundai i20?
The new Hyundai i20 is fitted with a 1.0-liter T-GDi engine mated to either a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission or the carmaker’s six-speed Intelligent Manual Transmission.According to the South Korean carmaker, the updated Hyundai i20 (whose jacked-up cousin, the i20 Cross Sport, was sold in the Philippines back in 2015) wears a refreshed design coupled with the latest smart technologies.
To its fore is a grille — flanked by a pair of sharp headlamps — with a design akin to the likes of the Philippine-market Hyundai Creta and Tucson. An aggressive front bumper sits right below it, which gives the i20 a sporty yet elegant fascia.
At the rear are two Z-shaped LED taillamps and a redesigned bumper.
It can be had with a set of 16 or 17-inch wheels.
Rounding up the notable exterior appointments of the new Hyundai i20 is a palette of brand-new colors, namely Lucid Lime Metallic, Lumen Grey Pearl, and Meta Blue Pearl. For further personalization, the hot hatch can be had in a two-tone finish (with a black roof).
The carmaker added that the Hyundai i20’s low profile and long wheelbase contribute to the automobile’s aerodynamic properties and improve its air resistance, handling, and fuel efficiency.
Inside, the new Hyundai i20 gets features like a standard 4.2-inch LCD instrument cluster, USB type-C ports, the 4G-based second-generation eCall system, and over-the-air map updates.
Optionally, would-be owners can upgrade the car’s screens into a 10.25-inch instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and wireless charging.
Additional amenities come in the form of multi-colored ambient lighting and a Bose premium sound system.
Powering the new Hyundai i20 is the marque’s 1.0-liter T-GDi engine mated to either a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission or the carmaker’s six-speed Intelligent Manual Transmission.
More information about the Hyundai i20 is yet to be confirmed. What we know now is that production of the hatchback will begin in the third quarter of 2023.
