Hyundai wins Red Dot Design awards

Hyundai Motor Company bagged multiple Red Dot Design Award honors at the recently-held competition for product design, communication design, and design concepts.

The first award was given to the South Korean carmaker for its acclaimed N Vision 74 concept.

Hyundai’s N Vision 74 is considered a “rolling lab” that the company uses for research, development, and verification before its high-performance, motorsport-inspired technologies are applied to mass-produced models.

Meanwhile, the company also took two wins in the Red Dot Award: Brands & Communication Design 2023 for its connected car navigation cockpit (ccNC) infotainment system and its digital font.

On the other hand, Hyundai’s next-generation “Seon” — which means “Line” in Korean — integrated infotainment design system won the Interface & User Experience Design category of the Red Dot Design Award.

It is a completely new design system applied to Hyundai Motor’s ccNC infotainment system. This graphic, Hyundai explained, was designed to perfectly harmonize with the vehicle’s interior and exterior designs, including the consistency between displays.

Finally, the Hyundai Sans UI next-generation mobility user experience (UX) digital typeface won the Red Dot Design Award Typography category. It was — the Seoul-headquartered brand pointed out — designed with mobility UX characteristics in mind but also software functionality based on aesthetics, legibility, and brand identity.
