It’s no secret that Honda sees the all-new CR-V e:HEV as a significant model when it comes to its electrification journey here in the Philippines.
And while the sixth-generation Honda C-RV is the first model to offer the brand’s e:HEV technology here in the country, it’s definitely not the first new-energy vehicle (NEV) Honda offered locally.
That said, we’re going to take a look at the other NEVs that were once offered by Honda in the Philippine domestic market.
The Honda CR-Z is one of the electrified offerings Honda brought to the country by Honda.
The Honda CR-Z is a compact crossover powered by a 1.5-liter gasoline engine that was paired with the brand’s Integrated Motor Assist system and a lithium-ion battery. Together, the setup gave the CR-Z a total power output of 133 horsepower (hp) with maximum torque of 171 Newton-meters (Nm).
Honda paired the electrified powertrain with a continuously variable transmission (CVT), which allowed the CR-Z to reportedly clock in at around 9.3 kilometers per liter (kpl).
The Honda Legend is a sedan that pushed the envelope in both luxury and fuel economy.
Under its hood is a 3.5-liter V6 complemented by the carmaker’s electric motors. On paper, it produced a whopping 308hp and had torque that made as much as 369Nm of pulling power. It had a seven-speed dual clutch transmission.
Now because of its beefy powerplant, it reportedly registered 6kpl, which many believed to be decent enough considering that the Honda Legend is no ordinary city car.
Fast forward to 2023, Honda has once again entered the electrified scene with the latest iteration of the CR-V sport utility vehicle (SUV).
The range-topping variant is powered by a 2.0-liter gasoline engine assisted by two electric motors. Shifting is aided by a CVT and allows the vehicle to push as much as 146 horses and 183Nm of torque.
In terms of fuel efficiency, the all-new Honda CR-V is said to clock in at 29.4kpl.
