Indonesia 2017: Honda ID launches all-new Honda CR-V
Honda Prospect Motor (HPM), the assembler and distributor of Honda automobiles in Indonesia, launched the all-new Honda CR-V at the 2017 Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS), in Jakarta.
The design of the all-new model is an evolution over its predecessor though it's larger than the outgoing model. A new full LED headlamp design with LED daytime running lights and foglights dominate the front fascia while out back, the new taillight design is combined with an LED light bar and, together with the new tailgate spoiler and dual exhaust pipe and finisher make Honda's new crossover stand out from behind. Completing the all-new Honda CR-V's exterior look are its 18-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with controls for the audio, Bluetooth hands-free for the smartphone, and cruise control greets the driver while behind it is an LCD display instrument cluster--that's not unlike that in the current-generation Honda Civic--which can display various real-time driving information. Dominating the expansive dashboard is a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system that's equipped with various functions, including smartphone connectivity, GPS navigation system, multiangle rearview camera monitor, and nanoe technology "to ensure more comfort and safety."
For the Indonesian market, the all-new Honda CR-V is available with either a 1.5-liter Direct Injection Turbo engine with Earth Dreams Technology and an output of 187 hp and 240 Nm of torque or a 2.0-liter i-VTEC mill that produces 152 hp and 189 Nm. Both engines are paired to an Earth Dreams CVT while the car is steered by a Drive by Wire system. No mention was made of the 1.6-liter turbodiesel powerplant that was recently revealed at the 2017 Bangkok International Motor Show.
Setting the 1.5-liter variants apart from the 2.0-liter are its seven-seater configuration, panoramic sunroof, eight-speaker audio system, and power tailgate with height adjustment.
"(The) Honda CR-V is a worldwide SUV model that always offers breakthrough in every generation with leading features and premium design," said PT HPM President Director Takehiro Watanabe. "The all-new Honda CR-V offers new innovations which are in line with the current world trend for a more compact yet powerful engine, and the need for a seven-seater SUV variant in Indonesia. All of these new benefits come without leaving the basic characteristic of CR-V as a powerful premium SUV."
The prices of the all-new Honda CR-V in Indonesia are at Rp 432 million (P1.62 million) for the 2.o-liter, Rp 466 million (P1.75 million) for the 1.5-liter Turbo, and Rp 506 Million (P1.90 million) for the 1.5-liter Turbo Prestige.
