Born in 2009, the Nissan 370Z has been and will continue to be known as a modern classic. On the one hand, the swoopy and swinging coupe was a successor to the Nissan's Z sports car line, which was first born in the 1960s.
On the other hand, the 370Z's ingredients will make it memorable in its own right: A powerful engine up front and under a long hood, a short passenger cabin placed almost above the rear wheels for perfect weight distribution, and rear-wheel drive.
Apart from its sleek styling, what gives the 370Z a modern touch is its interior. After all, a sporty coupe is expected to have a driver-focused interior, filled with features that befit its upscale prices. The 370Z has three variants, the Premium MT and AT, and Nismo, which respectively go for P2.779, P2.879, and P3.888 million.
Interior amenities
The driver grips a meaty leather-wrapped tiller, behind which the central tachometer resides. As with most sports car, the engine revs are displayed right into the driver's sight. The 370Z adds to this a readout that displays which gear the 370Z's six-speed manual or seven-speed auto is in.
Gauges above the dashboard give more information. These gauges show the engine temperature, electrical voltage, and clock.
The two passengers sit on fabric seats with bolsters, which can hold them in place as the 370Z during sporty driving. The 370Z Nismo's Recaro bucket seats offer even more bolstering, and more pizzazz, too, being finished in red.
When the going gets easier, however, the eight-speaker Bose sound system, found on all 370Z varieties can provide tunes. The generous cargo space behind the seats also suggest the 370Z's more practical nature.
As for safety, the 370Z front, side, and curtain airbags.
Tech specs
For the 370Z Premium MT and AT, they are powered by a 3.7-liter VQ V6 engine with 327hp and 363Nm of torque. The Nismo, with the same engine, bumps the power and torque numbers to 340hp and 371Nm.
We may not see a car like 370Z, or its newly introduced successor the Z, in the near future, as the automotive world shifts to SUVs and electric cars.
