Mitsubishi is currently showcasing a concept vehicle of what could possibly be an Strada (also called Triton and L200 in other markets) at the ongoing Bangkok International Motor Show 2023.
Dubbed the XRT Concept, Mitsubishi said that the truck — currently wrapped in lava rock-inspired camouflage — could be coming out this year.
“Fiscal 2023 is an important year for Mitsubishi Motors to accelerate our business in the ASEAN region, with the launch of a fully revamped Triton and an all-new compact SUV. The all-new Triton is going through final touch-ups in preparation for its release, as we have performed rigorous endurance tests around the world while also incorporating the know-how gained from rally activities. With the new vehicle launches as the centerpiece, we will continue our drive toward further growth. Please look forward to the future of Mitsubishi Motors,” said Mitsubishi Motors President and Chief Executive Officer Takao Kato.
The XRT Concept appears to have a more aggressive front end with a more robust hood that continues to the side with bold, horizontally-themed styling. Additionally, it is equipped with front and rear over fenders as well as mud-terrain tires.
That said, it is possible that it will look more powerful than the dressed-up Mitsubishi Strada Ralliart that was recently launched in the country.
Once the XRT Concept is launched in Thailand this year, neighboring countries — like the Philippines — could be getting the vehicle as part of their offerings.
