Isuzu's All-New RZ4E Blue Power Engine Now Available for Updated D-Max

The Isuzu D-Max is now available with the Japanese truck maker's all-new 1.9-liter RZ4E Blue Power Engine, four months after the Euro 4-compliant mill was first made available with the Isuzu mu-X midsize SUV. "The RZ4E is a new-generation diesel engine which has been the result of Isuzu's over four years of extensive research in Blue Power diesel engine technology, and represents our first foray into the lower displacement but higher output engine technology that has become the trend in Europe and in Asia," said Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) President Hajime Koso. The RZ4E engine produces 148 hp and 350 Nm of torque through either a six-speed automatic transmission with sequential shift mode or a five-manual transmission equipped with a Gear Shift Indicator (GSI). Besides the new engine offering for the D-Max, IPC also updated its pickup truck, with a new front fascia to go along with the Bi-LED headlamps with manual leveling controls and LED daytime running lamps (DRL). Inside, the passenger car-like cabin of the D-Max has a seven-inch touchscreen audio/video entertainment system (eight-inch for the 3.0-liter variants), vibrantly accented fabric seats (for the RZ4E variants)or leather seats with well-positioned soft pads (for the 3.0-liter variants), as well as multiple storage compartments and cupholders. The D-Max is also fitted with various safety features as standard, such as dual SRS airbags, Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), and Brake Assist (BA). For the higher-spec 3.0-liter variants, these also get Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Traction Control System (TCS), Hill-Start Assist (HSA), Hill Descent Control (HDC), and a Brake Override System (BOS), a fail-safe measure that ensures that the brakes take precedence and overrides the accelerator input if the accelerator and brake pedals are pressed at the same time.
