The leadership of Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) admitted that it is experiencing some minor setbacks with the handing over of units for the all-new mu-X.
IPC President Hajime Koso said that the company is experiencing an overwhelming demand for the latest iteration of its sport utility vehicle (SUV) offering.
“Since we launched the all-new Isuzu mu-X last month, our dealers have been receiving hundreds of reservations, and it is as expected, since the all-new Isuzu mu-X is such a big upgrade and its local following is so strong that we are overwhelmed,” Koso said during the launch of the N-Series Smoother.
He explained that the shortage of supply is due to the lack of semiconductors, which is being experienced globally. However, he said that “it is gradually improving and our production plant in Thailand is slowly catching up with global demand.”
“Thus, we are assuring our clients nationwide that we are working closely with Isuzu Thailand to hasten the production and delivery, so our customers in the Philippines will soon enjoy their SUVs as soon as possible,” Koso said.
As early as launch date, Koso immediately extended his apologies to vehicle buyers for the possible delay of units on the account of the pandemic.
“As we all know, the demand for automobiles globally has been increasing, especially in countries recovering from the pandemic. As a result, many component suppliers, not just semiconductors, are running out of their production capacity. In addition to this, some ASEAN countries had several lockdowns significantly delaying the procurement from parts manufacturers,” Koso had told reporters earlier.
“We sincerely apologize for the impact this may have caused to the delivery of Isuzu vehicles this year. Isuzu and its parts manufacturers are working hard to expand production capacity, so that the new mu-X can be delivered to as many Filipino customers as soon as possible. We encourage you to please visit and experience the charm of this new luxurious SUV from Isuzu,” he added.
IPC Vice President for Sales Yasuhiko Oyama said during the launch of the all-new mu-X that the company is targeting to corner 10 percent of the local midsize SUV market.
Since its inception in 2014 up to August this year, the Isuzu mu-X badge has already rolled out 51,791 units to its clients in the country.
Available in five colors namely Onyx Black, Mercury Silver, Splash White and new hues Marrakesh Brown and Satin White Pearl, buyers of the all-new Isuzu mu-X can choose from five variants:
