Upcoming automotive brand Jaecoo seems to have what it takes to slug it out in the local crossover arena with its upcoming initial offering, the 7.
The soon-to-arrive model will be introduced in time for the official introduction of Omoda and Jaecoo brands alongside the nameplate not-so-distant relative, the Omoda 5.
In a statement, the company said that the initial offering from Jaecoo will have a 1.6-liter turbocharged gasoline-fed engine that can deliver 290 Newton-meters of torque. Per initial tests, the Jaecoo 7 can reach 100 kilometers per hour (kph) from standstill in 8.9 seconds. The same mill also has the capacity to do around 13 kilometers per liter of fuel consumption.
Omoda and Jaecoo Philippines Brand Manager John Ezekiel Asuncion shared that the forthcoming offering would have the ground clearance and performance of a crossover while enjoying the comfort and technology found in luxury brands.
For its interior, the Jaecoo 7 shall also come with digital gauges for the driver, and a touchscreen vertical center console that has wireless Apple Carplay/Android Auto connectivity and an eight-speaker set-up. In addition, it also comes with Additional technological features such as wireless phone charging, four USB ports with fast charging, armrest with dampener, power-adjustable driver seat, power moonroof, all-auto power windows and keyless entry.
In addition, the Jaecoo 7 boasts a 540-degree camera that covers more blind spots. Aside from around the vehicle, the aforementioned feature will show even the bottom of the Jaecoo 7, which could come very useful when taking the vehicle off beaten paths.
“The 540-degree AVM system is based on spatiotemporal sequence image stitching using image processing methods such as camera calibration, image restoration fusion and sequence stitching,” Jaecoo shared in a statement.
In terms of safety, the Jaecoo 7 shall be fitted with a full electronic stability program suite that includes anti-lock braking system, electronic brake assist, traction control, hill assist and 21-function advanced driver assistance system. It also comes with a total of seven airbags (dual front, dual frontside, dual side curtain, and in between seats).
“While the first variant of the Jaecoo 7 to be launched will be petrol powered, please expect the Jaecoo brand to thrust towards new energy in the near future. We have exciting new energy models coming up from 2024 onwards that are sure to excite the Philippine Market”, Asuncion was quoted as saying.
The Omoda 5, Omoda EV and Jaecoo 7 will be launched in the Philippines before the end of the year.
