Jaguar’s first all-electric SUV just got smarter. Following Jaguar Land Rover’s recent announcement, the Jaguar I-Pace, as well as other new and existing models from Jaguar and Land Rover’s vehicle lineup, will now be equipped with Amazon’s voice-operated smart assistant.
New I-Pace models will have Alexa as a standard feature while existing owners with compatible Pivi Pro infotainment systems can add the new feature via a software over-the-air update. Owners will be notified via a message displayed in their vehicle’s touchscreen, said Jaguar.
Through Alexa, Jaguar I-Pace owners can perform various actions without having to lift their hands from the wheel.
Requests such as “Alexa, navigate me to home,” “Alexa, play my chill-out playlist,” and “Alexa show me nearby coffee shops” can all be done by voice. Owners can also check the news, the weather, and manage their schedule or shopping list just by asking.
The seamless integration of Alexa to Jaguar vehicles is the result of the collaboration between Jaguar Land Rover and Amazon engineers. Their efforts, says Jaguar Land Rover, will allow owners to enjoy the same Alexa experience they have in their vehicles as they do in their homes.
