Jaguar to Reveal Updated 2020 Jaguar XE at Geneva Motor Show
British luxury car manufacturer Jaguar revamped the XE just in time for the Geneva Motor Show in March. Updates abound inside and out, along with a slew of new technologies. This is the first major refresh undergone by Jaguar's smallest sedan since production began in April 2015.
The 3.0-liter V6 and diesel engine have been dropped, and so only two engine options remain: a 247-hp 2.0-liter turbocharged Ingenium inline-four for the base, and a 296-hp version of the same engine for the upper trims, complete with a new P300 badging. This particular powertrain can achieve a 0-100 kph time of 5.6 seconds. Drive options include all-wheel and rear-wheel, both equipped with an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
The exterior design is imbued with a bit more aggressive look, beginning with the wider and lower stance, and on to the more muscular design cues. Front and rear lamps are narrower, accompanied by J-shaped daytime running lights on both ends. Bumpers front and back have been retooled to accommodate the sportier look. The grille is also wider with a new mesh design.
As for the in-cabin features, buyers can now opt of the same InControl Touch Pro Duo infotainment system found in the Jaguar I-Pace. The system has a second touchscreen flanked by two round dials on the lower center console for regulating the climate control feature. Other new additional features include wireless phone charging, camera-equipped rearview mirror, and a pistol-style shifter to replace the rotary shifter that many owners have come to loathe.
Capacitive-touch switches replace the control buttons on the steering wheel, which looks a lot beefier than its predecessor. Upholstery and trim have also been upgraded, lending the new cabin a more refined look than the outgoing model.
The all-new Jaguar XE is already available for order, with a base price of USD37,990, according to American media.
