The police department of the Tochigi Prefecture in Japan has a new addition to its fleet of police cars, and no, it wasn't the typical Toyota Crown you'd see on the streets--it's a brand-new Nissan GT-R.
Reportedly donated by a resident of the prefecture, the GT-R was delivered to the Tochigi Prefecture Police on June 15, with an unveiling event held to celebrate the arrival of the vehicle.
According to Nissan, the GT-R will be used as a patrol car by the police department and will be active in traffic safety awareness events, which is a departure from the previous sports cars/police cars in its fleet--like the first-generation Honda NSX and the Nissan 370Z--as both cars were often used as displays in exhibitions.
In any case, if you're planning to drive around the Tochigi Prefecture in Japan soon, we suggest you tap the throttle lightly, just in case the Nissan GT-R police car might be patrolling the streets while you're there.
