Jeep Philippines will reintroduce the Grand Cherokee nameplate to its lineup, which will expand its four-vehicle roster in the Philippines.
Based on Jeep Philippines’ invite to Carmudi Philippines, the introduction of the forthcoming Grand Cherokee in the country is slated on March 29, 2023.
At the time of writing, Jeep Philippines has not yet revealed any information about the upcoming Grand Cherokee, leaving Filipino fans in the dark about the specifications of the luxury sport utility vehicle (SUV).
And while it does make the forthcoming reveal more exciting, a quick look at the brand’s United States (US) website can give one clues as to what to expect by the end of the month.
The US-market 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee is offered in three powertrain options: the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine, the 5.7-liter HEMI mill, and the 2.0-liter turbocharged plug-in hybrid electric vehicle powerplant.
Of the three, we’re putting our money on the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 as the same engine powers the Philippine-market Jeep Gladiator.
If so, the Philippine-spec Jeep Grand Cherokee could put out around 293 horsepower with 352 Newton meters of torque — pretty much like its American counterpart. Also, the US-spec Grand Cherokee boasts a 2,812-kilogram towing capacity making it more than capable to haul one’s weekend necessities.
Like most of Jeep’s Filipino fans, we’re also excited to find out if we’re about to get the 4xe variant. Should Jeep’s local wing introduce the variant to the market, it would be a great contender for the hybrid variant of the Land Rover Range Rover Sport.
To note, Jeep’s local offering currently consists of the Wrangler, the Gladiator, the Renegade, and the Compass.
