Its capability and reliability are reflected by its striking exterior appointments.
At the fore, the all-new Jeep Grand Cherokee L wears the new version of the brand’s iconic seven-slot grille with a prominent “Jeep” badge sitting on its more streamlined hood. It also has larger air vents and a more pronounced honeycomb design compared to its predecessor.
Flanking the front fascia are a pair of LED reflector headlamps, LED daytime running lamps, and LED fog lamps.
The side profile of the sport utility vehicle (SUV) is highlighted with broader shoulders complemented by black claddings on the wheel arches. Next to it is the Jeep Grand Cherokee L’s gloss black side mirrors with repeaters and cameras.
And while we’re on the topic of gloss black exterior appointments, the Jeep Grand Cherokee L has similarly-hued B- and C-pillars that make the roof — equipped with roof rails and a dual-pane panoramic sunroof — appear like it is floating. Further accentuating its side profile are 20-inch five-spoke aluminum wheels shod in performance tires.
To its rear are taillamps that are thinner than the previous version of the Jeep Grand Cherokee L; a roof-mounted spoiler with a camera and a high-mount brake lamp; additional “Jeep,” 4X4, and “Limited” badging; dual exhaust pipes; and a power liftgate.
Inside, the Philippine-spec Jeep Grand Cherokee L boasts seats finished in perforated Capri leather, a multi-functional leather steering wheel, a leather armrest, and more leather materials on its dashboard and door trims. Further enhancing its posh cabin are An-teak and satin chrome interior accents.
The front occupants also get to enjoy a 10.12-inch thin-film transistor color instrument cluster and a 10.1-inch infotainment system. Audio is sent to nine amplified speakers with a subwoofer. There’s also a charging pad for those looking to charge smartphones wirelessly.
Toys in the second row include controls for air conditioning, additional A/C vents on its pillars, reading lamps, and an armrest with room for two cups of expensive coffee.
Being the first three-row Grand Cherokee, this version offers decent space for up to seven passengers.
Jeep Philippines said that the returning nameplate is equipped with 110 safety features, which include an active lane management system, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go function, advanced brake assist, advanced multi-stage airbags, blind spot and cross-path detection, electronic stability control, and full-speed forward collision warning, among others.
Granted that the Grand Cherokee is in fact a Jeep, it is equipped with a 4x4 system. That said, would-be owners can expect features like an integrated off-road camera and four-wheel traction control.
The all-new Jeep Grand Cherokee retails for P5.490 million.
