Jetour Auto Philippines Incorporated (JAPI) and Maybank Philippines have forged a partnership that will raise awareness on electric vehicles to promote sustainability.
In a statement, the automotive distributor shared that the newly-formed collaboration was formally announced during an event held in time for the World Environment Day (June 5, 2023) celebration.
To encourage the switch to electric vehicles as well as adopt an environment-friendly lifestyle, the two marques have created a sales promo that makes the Jetour Ice Cream EV more affordable with Maybank’s payment options.
According to JAPI, the Chinese electric vehicle can be had through a 15-percent down payment or a monthly amortization as low as P7,339.
“We have always looked for partnerships that are aligned with our strategic thrusts and will be able to support our sustainability commitments to our customers and the community in general,” Maybank Philippines President and Chief Executive Officer Abigail Tina Del Rosario was quoted as saying.
“We found one in Jetour, and in our own way, through this collaboration, we hope to be a significant contributor to efforts on saving the environment, by acting decisively in lessening our carbon footprint and enabling our customers in their decarbonization journey.”
Del Rosario is hoping that the initiative would contribute to “addressing the impact of climate change.”
For his part, JAPI Managing Director Miguelito Jose expressed elation over the trust and confidence that Maybank showed to the brand.
“By working together on World Environment Day, as we move forward to transitioning from internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles to hybrids, to a visionary path towards full-electric vehicles. We are grateful to have found a like-minded partner in Maybank, sharing the same purpose and direction as we embark on this remarkable journey together by providing accessible financing options for the Jetour Ice Cream EV, we can make it effortless for new car owners to embrace electric mobility.”
The Jetour Ice Cream EV is available in four colors named after ice cream flavors: Vanilla, Strawberry, Blueberry, and Matcha.
Seen at the front fascia are the U-shaped LED daytime running lights that add a touch of charm and playfulness to the vehicle's design.
Inside the cabin are high-grade gaming chairs to highlight the comfort that it can dish out to occupants.
Powering the Jetour Ice Cream EV is a 20-kilowatt hour (kwh) electric motor that is capable of delivering a top speed around 100 kilometers per hour and 85 Newton-meters of pulling power. Providing the energy to the electric mill is a 13.9kwh lithium-ion battery, which, when fully charged, has a range of 170 kilometers (km) — as JAPI claimed.
Other key features of the vehicle include a reverse camera, a multi-info display that also serves as an infotainment unit, steering-wheel controls for phones, audio functions, and eco and sport driving modes.
With a starting price of P699,000, the Jetour Ice Cream is packaged with an eight-year battery warranty or 120,000 km, whichever comes first, and a three-year vehicle warranty or 100,000 km, whichever comes first.
