Kia breaches 7-M sales milestone for Sportage SUV

Kia announced that the Sportage sport utility vehicle (SUV) has now sold more than seven million units — across five generations — globally. 

Upon its inception in 1993, the Kia Sportage left a mark in the automotive industry. With the abovementioned achievement, the Sportage has solidified its position as the South Korean carmaker’s best-selling model globally since 2015, captivating drivers with its distinctive design and inspiring performance. 

“The Kia Sportage was a groundbreaking product from day one. Over the 30 years since it has remained true to its revolutionary origins, bringing cutting-edge safety, performance, and design to drivers around the world,” commented Kia Senior Vice President and Head of Global Operations Division Tae-Hun Lee. 

To commemorate the said milestone, Kia will be releasing a special 30th Anniversary Special Edition Sportage. It will have — the Hyundai-owned marque noted — an enhanced specification, focusing on convenience and safety while further elevating the model’s considerable luxury and design appeal.

These will come in the form of more gloss black exterior appointments, acoustic laminated glass in the first and second rows, seats with a new meticulously crafted suede and graphic perforated pattern, and the incorporation of eight airbags. 

Further, the Kia Sportage 30th Anniversary Special Edition will wear model-specific badges. 

“In honor of the model’s tremendous contribution to Kia’s success, the 30th Anniversary Special Edition accentuates the unparalleled comfort and luxury now added to that already compelling combination, demonstrating the brand’s future as well as celebrating its history,” Lee added.

Starting in Korea, the Kia Sportage 30th Anniversary Special Edition will be gradually released in select markets.
