Kia hits 1.5-M sales output for H1 2023
Kia announced that it has achieved its highest first-half results in 2023 with sales of more than 1.5 million units across the globe.

Kia’s best-selling model overseas for the first half of 2023 is the Sportage.According to the South Korean carmaker, its total sales worldwide for January-June this year reached an approximate of 1.575 million units, which reflects an 11-percent increase compared to the same period last year.
Kia sport utility vehicle (SUV) models have led the company’s strong 2023 sales momentum — with the Sportage and Seltos selling 260,485 units and 157,188 units, respectively. The Sorento followed with 115,644 units.
To note, Kia’s previous best first-half sales performance was in 2014, when around 1.546 million units were sold.
Of the overall sales for the first six months of 2023, Kia revealed that it handed over 292,103 units domestically, which translates to an 11.5-percent growth year over year.
Here, the best-selling models included the Kia Carnival multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) with sales of 39,350 units. The MPV is followed by the Sorento and Sportage, garnering total sales of 36,558 and 36,084 units, respectively.
As for its overseas sales, the company delivered some 1.281 million examples to its clients outside Korea, which showed a 10.8-percent increase compared to the same time period last year.
The Sportage SUV was its top seller outside of Korea with a total sales of 224,401 units. It is followed by the Seltos SUV, which sold 130,244 units, and the K3 sedan (also known as Forte outside of Korea), which sold 100,781 units.
Kia is happy with its sales performance in key regions where it is present, namely the United States (US), Europe, and India where it sold 415,708 units, 318,753 units, and 136,108 units respectively.
The remaining 2,750 units came from Kia’s special-purpose vehicle sales.
Last month, Kia sold a total of 278,256 units globally. Broken down, it translates to a total domestic sales of 51,002 and a total overseas sales of 226,631.
