The Ayala-backed Kia Philippines has officially dropped the drapes of the new Kia Stonic.
Packaging the vehicle for the youth and youthful market, the Kia Stonic is set to run alongside their local frontliners.
During the digital introduction, AC Industrials Chairman and CEO Arthur Tan expressed his firm confidence that the Stonic will be one of their volume sellers, together with the Soluto, Seltos and K2500.
He also took the opportunity to introduce AC Motors automotive group President Antonio Zara III at the event.
Meanwhile, Kia Philippines President Manny Aligada said that the latest offering is set to spice up the local automotive arena.
“For over 70 years, Kia has been innovating the way we design vehicles. Today, we are proud to launch the Kia Stonic—which has Style that’s Iconic,” he expressed. “What does it mean to be considered iconic? Being an icon means not following a trend. It’s about setting a new one. Raising the bar, thinking ahead,” Aligada added.
The new Stonic crossover is the product of Kia Chief Designer Peter Schreyer's ingenuity, showing the European Design Language and complementing it with Kia's signature Tiger Nose Grille present in the new Kia models.
The new Stonic is powered by a nimble 1.4 dual CVVT engine mated to either a five-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission, providing ample oomph for the urban setting—around 94 horsepower to 99 horsepower, depending on the option offered.
Since we have been experiencing flooding due to recent heavy rains, the Stonic could be a good consideration as the 4,100mm long, 1,735mm wide and 1,533mm high with a 2,570 wheelbase vehicle has a ground clearance of 185mm.
The new Stonic is available in five hues, namely Prime Red, Clear White (for the LX variants), Extreme Blue (offered in all three variants) and the two-tone Black/Flame Orange, Black/Flash Yellow and Black/Clear White (exclusive for the top variant EX).
Since it is a crossover, the new Stonic also has cargo-carrying capabilities, easily hauling more than 325 liters of cargo when the seats are in an upright position. The car is guaranteed to carry more should rear seats be flatly folded.
The new Stonic has an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system that is compatible with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It has six audio speakers packaged as standard.
For its safety features, the new Stonic has the basic dual front airbags, three-point seat belts with pretensioners and anti-brake lock system, it also has Rear Camera with Dynamic Guidelines, ISOFIX child anchors and child lock to ensure the tiny tot will stay in its seat while inside the car.
Further, it also has been fitted with driver-assistive features such as Parking Distance Warning, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill Start Assist, smart keyless entry and illuminated push start button (all exclusive for the EX variant).
Same as with all other members in the Kia roster, the new Stonic is offered with up to five-year or 160,000-km warranty, as well as with a 24/7 Roadside Assistance FREE for five years which covers Emergency Towing, Personal Assistance, Minor Onsite Repair, Medical Assistance and Information Service for a secured, enjoyable and worry-free ownership.
As mentioned earlier, the Kia Stonic is being served at introductory price of P675,000 for the LX MT, P785,000 for the mid-range automatic LX AT and P875,000 for the top-grade EX AT. To give more people the opportunity to get one, they are extending the offer until end of November—more like a pre-Christmas treat to the market
Moreover, in his speech, the newly-acquired Zara said that they will focus its strategies on the digitization, innovation and customer-centric initiatives.
“We will continue to bring new digital tools to our dealerships to improve, not only our operational efficiency, but also to enhance the customer’s experience. Furthermore, we will prioritize building our group’s digital marketing capabilities. We need to move beyond simply buying digital media, setting up websites, virtual showrooms, and investing in customer database system,” Zara explained.
“The digital space is very fragmented, but at the same time, allows us to be more targeted provided we invest in the right tools and technology,” he added.
Relatedly, the new Stonic is now available in the new Kia virtual showroom. The digital Kia outlet is uniquely created as the background depicts the environment of the target user with the real world scene. To see the digital showroom, customers may log on to the Kia website at www.kia.com/ph.
