The leadership of Kia Philippines expressed firm confidence on the newly launched Carnival that it is targeting to sell at least 400 units in 2022.
In an interview, Kia Philippines President Manny Aligada said that the goal for the year (which he said is consistent with the objective of the brand) would reflect a 60-percent growth rate compared to last year.
The eyed volume would be about seven-percent of the overall sales for the local arm of the Korean automotive marque for the year. “That is a significant share for a vehicle model that will surely catch the market’s attention,” Aligada told Carmudi Philippines.
The fourth-generation Kia Carnival is currently being offered in two variants, the EX 8 AT and the SX 8 AT — both in seven-seater configurations.
During the virtual press briefing, Kia Philippines Product Strategy and Planning Director Josh Altarejos said that since 2019, the company was able to deliver almost 1,000 examples to buyers.
The latest version of the all-new Kia Carnival, which is touted as a Grand Utility Vehicle for its sport-utility-vehicle like design and offerings, is powered by the new SmartStream 2.2-liter common rail direct inject diesel engine and matched to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Further, all-new Kia Carnival SX 8 AT (the nameplate’s crème-de-la-crème variant) has the Kia Drive Wise host of safety technologies such as the forward collision avoidance assist, rear cross traffic alert, lane keep and following assist (which adjusts the steering wheel automatically) as well as collision-avoidance system.
